In the aftermath of a mysterious high school “incident”, the school’s attorney, Laura Sedgewick (Abigail Spencer) questions the only witness, a student, Alex, in hopes of protecting the school from any lawsuits. The story is told by Alex’s perspective and shown in flashbacks. The students involved in the incident first met at detention when they all bought test answers for a test and were caught. But Alex weaves his tale, it becomes clear that there is much more to this story than meets the eye.
