The film set during the era of the Han Dynasty. Huo An (Chan), the hun serves as a commander of the Protection Squad of the Western Regions of the Han Dynasty. They are tasked by the emperor to maintain stability between the warring 36 nations in the Silk Road region. Huo An and his subordinates are framed by his crooked superior (Choi). They are sent to the Wild Geese Gate, a frontier town of the Han Dynasty and undergo forced labor.

In the west, meanwhile, a Roman general named Lucius (Cusack) flees with his legion to the east. He smuggles Publius (Waite), heir of the Roman consul for the Parthian Empire to save him from death and a ploy by his older brother, Tiberius (Brody), who schemes to takeover the heir position of the Consul for himself. Lucius arrives at outskirt of the Wild Geese Gate, with plans to assault the frontier town with his legion[citation needed].

As Huo An (Chan) battles Lucius (Cusack), a sandstorm approaches the battle and Hou An allows the Roman Legion refuge shelter from the approaching sandstorm. Lucious admires Hou An sword and tell Hou An the plight he is enduring. Then the Han Dynasty gave the commanding officer of the Wild Geese Gate a 15 day notice to complete the restoration work of the whole place which the commanding officer deem to be impossible but with the Roman Legion around, they join forces to rebuild the Wild Geese Gate within the time frame. During the time, all who were employed in the restoration begin to co-exist and acknowledge that all can work together to achieve the peace that the previous Emperor previously envisioned. However the plan started to unravel when Tiberius (Brody) Legion chased Lucius legion to the Wild Geese Gate.

Then the young prince Publius enlist Hou An to be a Legion in which he entrusted his Roman sword to Hou An (Chan). Hou An then informs Lucius he will go to his friend to get an army to fight against the impending Tiberius Legion, it turns out that Hou An friend betrayed him and Lucious were taken into custody and kept in the prison and tortured. Hou An then proceeds to return home and unsuccessfully extracted his wife from danger as she tried protecting a fellow student from the silk road who dropped his books, Hou An then was helped by the very the hun that he previously stopped before being thrown into the Wild Geese Gate. Hou An learned about Lucius torment and staged a rescue to rescue Lucius with the assistance of the Wild Geese Gate commanding officer and also his right hand man to which he sees that Tiberius have craved Lucius eyes open and Lucius then entrusted his legion to Hou An.
